Action Plan

Our initial efforts toward building an interactive library have focused on setting up a user friendly structure to house a collection of useful knowledge. Integral to our approach is considering ways to integrate knowledge from a variety of subject areas that address quality of life in the home.

A few features we consider as we think of each room include:

Family Science Room: Focused on one issue at a time, features activities, books and websites on topics such as resource use, benchmarking, and collecting family stories. We started with water use and are exploring ways to increase understanding of resource use related to water conservation.

Family Reading Room: Features favorite parent-child activities (such as 'follow my hands, rock, paper scissor, and eye spy) Children's books that address basic knowledge or family issues, book reviews Especially for Mom, Especially for Dad, from Grandpa's bookshelf, and from Great-grandpa's bookshelf.

Theatre Room: In this room, we have put video clips about the four seasons to increase awareness of our part in nature. We also want to put links to movie trailers of DVDs Especially for Dad, and Especially for Family Viewing

Art and Music: Features student nature drawings, basic information about art materials and about musical instruments, and books and websites about art and music.
