Here is some of the Treasures we foundin Texas Libraries:Three from Mr. Z.!Our treasure hunt led us to the Frisco Public Library. Young readers probably remember the Youth Librarian, Mr. Z. , who has now moved on to another Texas library. But before he left he told us about some of the treasures he hoped visitors that come to the Frisco Library would find. Thanks Mr. Z! These are just three of the treasures hidden in the stacks at the Frisco Public Library:chapter books Some chapter books portray times in history that children can relate to and which help them place events in historical perspective. The books we chose for this category can be used to create a timeline from Roman times to the mid 1900s. Grandpas and Grandmas often appreciate the opportunity to relate stories that come to mind when reading passages aloud from these kinds of stories. Even pre-literate children enjoy the stories and can relate to how the characters interact in their families as they learn to deal with the events in their lives. Choose a title below to find in a library in your area: favorite children's books for reading aloud We found out teachers love picture books. Picture books are great at explaining basic issues in captivating ways. Some of our favorites (such as the youth picture book biography of Margaret Mead, for example) are now out of print. We hope to see them in e-book format soon!. Choose a title below to find in a library in your area: Texas Authors These are just a few of the titles by Texas Authors we found in Texas Libraries. We chose examples that relate the character and personality of some of the people of Texas. Some were chosen for the example they might give to other Texas cities, such as Writing Austin's Lives (though we make no claims to agree with views or perspectives, we appreciate the message that local voices can help communities find common ground).... while others demonstrate how to interact with and notice changes in nature, such as Gehlbach's Messages from the Wild. If you know of other Texas Authors we should know about, please contact us. Choose a title below to find in a library in your area: -------------------------------- We plan to eventually convert the list of books below to WorldCat's Find In a Library function which allows visitors to this e-library to see where a book can be found at a library in your area. If you want to purchase a title, we hope you will buy your books locally or look for them at your favorite online bookstore. We realize people have favorite places where they purchase books, and our goal is to increase awareness of community-relevant titles as we find them. We hope you get as much value from these books as we have! Three Long-time Favorites These three were picked in 2003, but continue to be favorites. You can tell us about your favorites found in Texas Libraries by sending us an email with your recommended title.
